Responsive Web Design (RWD) is a technique for creating a website design which fits optimal on a wide range of screen sizes (from a desktop computer screen to small mobile device screen).

The term Responsive Website may also known as “Mobile-friendly Website”.

There are many differences between a website with an old layout (best fit on desktop computers) and a responsive website. The key/most-important features for a responsive website (comparing with the old-layout websites) are: having different navigation menus regarding the screen sizes, and preventing the scroll bar to be appeared when viewing the website on smaller screens; this can be gained by using different stylesheets for different screen sizes.

Google has announced that it will update its mobile search algorithm to give rewards to mobile-friendly websites and penalizes the websites if they are not mobile-friendly.

Do you need to be concerned about your website mobile-friendly issue?

If your website is using a responsive layout, probably you don’t need to worry about that; but if you have an old (wide or boxed) layout designed for regular desktop screens, it’s better to update your website design soon.

If you are not sure if your website is mobile-friendly ot not, then you can test your website with this tool from Google Webmaster Tools:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/

It will analyze your website URL and report if it’s mobile-friendly or not.

We can proudly announce that all of the websites created by Apex Web Design are using responsive layout and our clients can feel free to continue seeing their website on both mobile and desktop search results.
